Lamborghini shows its first plug-in hybrid, the Asterion LPI 910-4

What you have here is the Italian car manufacturer first ever plug-in hybrid that was revealed at the Paris Motor Show. This car is, at least for now, just a concept that serves a specific purpose, it was created as a "technology demonstrator", and show Lamborghini also thinks "green".

This model is equipped with a naturally aspirated, 5.2-liter V10 petrol engine that generates 610PS (449kW or 602hp) and 560Nm (413lb/ft) of torque that is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Between them is an electric motor incorporating an integrated starter motor and generator (ISG). There are two more electric motors driving each of the front wheels.

With the help of the three electric units, the total power output reaches 910PS (669kW or 897hp). This is more than enough to get this concept to 320km/h (199mph), 125km/h (78mph) in pure electric mode with a range of 50km (31 miles).

Still, one of the biggest aspects of this car is the fuel consumption. It only needs 4,12 liters to travel 100km (68.6 UK mpg or 57.1 USA mpg) and emits just 98 grams of CO2 for every kilometer traveled.

The lithium battery is placed in the middle of the car, in the central tunnel area, for an improved ride and balance, and also to protect it in case of a side crash. See more of this beauty in the gallery below.
