Official: Here you have the 2014 Land Rover Discovery

Seems those patent drawings that i showed you the other day were real. Here you have the first official pictures of the 2014 Land Rover Discovery which is not that different from its predecessor. The public reveal will, of course, take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show that stars next week.

Like i told you before, the headlamps, front grille and front bumper have been redesigned while the wheels are new. Also new is the placement of the side turn signals which are now placed on the side rear-view mirrors. The hood now has a badge saying "Discovery" instead of the classic "Land Rover".

The 2014 Discovery comes with the old diesel 3.0-liter V6 that generates 256PS (253bhp or 188kW) and 600Nm (443lb/ft) of torque. The news is the introduction of a new gasoline engine which will replace the 5-liter V8. It's a 3.0-liter V6 which develops 340PS (335bhp or 250kW) and 450Nm (332lb/ft). The petrol engine is available in two different versions, one for the USA and another for the European market.

The gearbox is a ZF sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. You will be able to choose between two four-wheel drive systems, the the new single-speed transfer box or the carry-over twin-speed transfer box.

Land Rover also wanted to modernize the Discovery. There is now several new driver aids and a premium audio system. These new features include the Wade Sensing, Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection and T-junction Cameras, while the standard audio system features 8 speakers and 380 Watts of power, and the Meridian Surround sound system generates an impressive 825 Watts and features 17 speakers.
