Volvo introduced the S60 Polestar for quite some time but never said anything about whether or not it would be produced. Today the story is a little different. The Swedish company announced they are going to produce this car in an undisclosed number of units for the Australian market.
This is a pilot project, possibly meaning that Volvo wants to see if there is interest that justifies selling it in other markets. I sure hope they do it.
The exterior suffered several changes for an improved aerodynamic, including a new front splitter, rear wing and diffuser. Mechanically were added new Öhlins dampers, better brakes, a bigger turbo, new intercooler, revised engine mapping and racing exhaust. with this new engines parts, the 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 now produces 350PS (257kW or 345hp) and over 500Nm (369lb/ft).
The S60 Polestar uses an improved AWF21 six-speed automatic gearbox with launch control connected to a Haldex 4WD system, giving it the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in just 4,9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250km/h (155mph) and the car weighs 1684kg (3713lb), the same as the standard S60 T6 R-Design.
