The Porsche 911 Targa is one of the most iconic models of the German brand. It made its debut in late 1966 due to some concerns that the USA government was going to ban convertibles because they believed they were too dangerous in case they overturned, so to avoid the ban, Porsche fitted the convertible 911 with a removable roof section and a roll bar behind the seats.
The new 911 Targa will the same system, instead of the sliding roof used in the previous three generations; 997, 996 and 993. The public presentation is schedule to happen in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, USA.
Like the 911 Cabrio, the new Targa will use the same 3.4-liter and 3.8-liter six-cylinder engines with 349PS (344bhp or 257kW) and 400PS (395bhp or 294kW), respectively.
