The Delhi Auto Show isn't one of the big ones, but it is gaining importance due to the expansion of the Indian market. With that in mind brands are taking time and money to develop new and better looking concepts to be shown at these auto shows. another example is China that got many new cars and concepts.
Actually, this is Renault's first concept to be revealed outside Europe. It completely suits the Indian car tastes, since it is short and tall, almost like a buggy. Renault described it as a "robust, yet fun design", but i prefer my description.
The design was created in a collaboration of the Renault's European design center with inputs from Renault Design India. The car ended up with rather large wheels that protrude past the also big fenders, and very short overhangs that give the car that buggy look i said before.
The interior is even more futuristic. The seats, made from a two-tone elastomer material that mimics a bird nest, is suspended over a solid base. As with all new concepts, the car manufacturers that introduce them are eager to show some type of new technology. Renault did just that with the Flying Companion. This is a sort of helicopter that can be controlled by you or have a pre-programmed flying sequence and GPS location. Purpose? Renault says: "The Flying Companion can be used for a variety of purposes, including scouting traffic, taking landscape pictures and detecting obstacles on the road ahead."
For now, Renault hasn't said anything about a production version, so we will have to wait for more information.
