A few days ago, Bugatti said the following in their Facebook page: "It’s almost time for us to share the latest example of exceptional Bugatti performance..". I, like most people in the world, thought we were going to see a new model or possibly a new version of the Veyron, but in the end the big news is that the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse set a new world speed record for open-top cars.
While it is cool, it's still a little disappointing when you expecting something more. The Chinese racing driver Anthony Liu was the one driving the car when it reached 408.84km/h (254.04mph) at the Ehra-Lessien proving ground in Germany.
This is a little funny, because a few days ago the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport lost its title as the fastest road legal production car in the world. Guinness World Records took the title away from Bugatti because the tested Veyron did not have a speed limiter, like it happens with the other cars sold.
Bugatti says the people from Guinness World Records knew about this, and that they had to include it in the other production cars due to safety reasons.
