During the past two years, Ford has renewed its entire line of commercial vehicles, and today ended that process with the introduction of the Transit Courier at the Birmingham CV Show. This new van is based on Ford's B-segment compact platform for an improved maneuverability within the city. It will also be available as a kombi with rear seats.
The Transit Courier comes with a load volume of 2.3m3 (10% more than closest competitors), a maximum payload of 660kg (1455lb), and has the longest load length at floor level of 1620mm (63,78 inches), which is 100mm (3,94 inches) longer than its rivals.
On sale from 2014, Ford offers three engines, a 1.5 liter and 1.6 liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engines with 75PS (74hp or 55kW) and 96PS (95hp or 71kW), respectively. Also available will be the 1.0 liter EcoBoost petrol engine with 100PS (99hp or 74kW). All engines have a five speed manual gearbox and can have the start-stop system.
Inside you will have available some systems found in other types of vehicles, such as Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance, Rear View Camera, standard ESC (Electronic Stability Control), side thorax airbags, curtain airbags and knee airbags.
