Official: Maserati Ghibli! Images leaked to the web, so Maserati was forced to reveal it

A few hours ago, images of the new Maserati Ghibli were leaked to the web, forcing the Italian company to release images and more information one day earlier than expected. This car is based on a shortened version of the Quattroporte's platform and, like i said earlier, it will include one diesel engine.

Performance figures aren't available yet, because the homologation process isn't complete, but Maserati says it will be more aggressive and sporty than its older brother. The entry model will feature a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine, a first for Maserati.

Maserati will also make available a turbocharged V6 petrol engine with 3.0 liter and 2 power levels. The most powerful version will have about 415PS (410hp or 305kW), while the other will have approximately 335PS (330hp or 246kW). A V8 engine will be available later, possibly in 2014.

All engines will only have available the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, but you will be able to choose if you want it to be rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Prices will start from around €60.000 ($76.000 or £50.000) for the diesel option and could reach €77.000 ($99.000 or £65.000) for the more powerful version. This prices ranges mean it will compete with the the Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, Cadillac CTS and the BMW 5-Series. These prices depends on the country where you live and the taxes.

Inside, we will have a lot of leather supplied by Poltrona Frau, and Maserati made available an optional sound system manufactured by Bowers & Wilkins. High-end stuff.

If you live in China, don't forget to see it live in a few weeks at the Shanghai Motor Show. I will update this article when more pictures are available.
