The Lotus Exige S Roadster was revealed at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, so we knew sooner or later it was going to be produced, but I never thought it would take so long, since only now, Lotus, announced the car will go on sale this summer, but it won't be available in the USA.
Power will come from the same engine used in the Exige S Coupe, a petrol 3.5 liter engine that produces 350PS (345hp or 258kW) @7000rpm and 400Nm (295lb/ft) @4500rpm. Top speed is limited to 233km/h (145mph), since the coupe has a top speed of 274km/h (170mph), but the 4 seconds it takes to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) is the same for the two versions.
The combined fuel consumption is also the same for both cars. It average's 10.1l/100km (28 UK mpg or 23.3 USA mpg). The CO2 emissions aren't that high, at 236 g/km for the six-speed manual gearbox which is available as standard.
Roadster versions are usually heavier than the coupe versions, but that does not happen in this case, since this car weighs 1166kg, and the coupe weighs 10kg more.
