The public presentation of the sportier version of the Skoda Octavia was scheduled to happen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will take place from July 10, 2013, and that will still take place but the automobile manufacturer based in the Czech Republic decided today is the day to reveal it.
And it's about time. Specially because it looks really and good, and it is really fast. How fast? It can reach a top speed of 248km/h (154mph) and it takes 6.8 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph).
This is achieved thanks to the 2.0 liter petrol engine that produces 220PS (165kW or 217bhp). Skoda also offers a 2.0 liter diesel engine with 184PS (135kW or 181bhp). With this engine, the Octavia RS can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 8.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 232km/h (144mph).
These two engines are much more efficient than their predecessors, thanks to the Start-Stop and Brake Energy Regeneration systems. Connected to them is a six-speed manual gearbox, but you can also choose the six-speed dual clutch transmission (DSG).
To give the car a more aggressive look, Skoda lowered the suspension of the Octavia RS by 12mm (0.42 inches) and 13mm (0.51 inches) for the Combi RS. Also new are the front and rear bumpers, grille, trapezoidal chrome tailpipes, black diffuser and rear spoiler. As an option, Skoda offers 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The interior features a sportier leather steering wheel, sport seats, a RS instrument panel and sill plates and pedals made of stainless steel.
