With the A3 Cabriolet, Audi revealed the last member of the A3 family. This compact four-seater has the same look as the rest of the A3 family and a soft cloth top which is actuated through a lightweight kinematic mechanism made of magnesium-steel, and opens or closes in less than 18 seconds at speeds up to 50km/h (31mph).
When folded the soft top allows for a luggage capacity of 287liters. The soft top has a glass rear window, and you can choose to have a acoustic top with a thicker inner foam layer which reduces even more the noise level inside the A3 Cabriolet. You can choose between three colors; black, gray and brown, while the roofliner is available in black and lunar silver. Of course, the A3 Cabriolet comes with an active rollover protection system.
The new A3 Cabriolet grew in length from 4.24 to 4.42 meters (13.91 to 14.50 ft), the wheelbase went from 2.58 to 2.60 meters (8.46 to 8.53 ft) and its width from 1.77 to 1.79 meters (5.81 to 5.87 ft) in comparison to the previous model. The height was reduced by 15 millimeters (0.59 in), now having 1.41 meters (4.63 ft), and so was the weight, since it was reduced by 50 kilograms (110.23 lb), to 1,365 kilograms (3009lbs).
The interior is the same one found in the other A3 versions, except for the extra button that raises and lowers the soft top. The engines offered are also the same. You will be able to choose between two gasoline engines (1.4liter with 140PS [138bhp or 103kW] and 1.8-liter 180PS [177bhp or 132kW]), and a diesel 2.0-liter unit that generates 150PS (148bhp or 110kW).
Later, Audi will offer other diesel and gasoline engines, but, more importantly, will be the S3 with a turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI engine that produces 300PS (296bhp or 221kW) and 380Nm (280lb/ft). Depending on the selected engine, the car will come with a seven-speed S tronic or a six-speed manual gearbox. The quattro all-wheel drive system will also be available as an option.
