Peugeot has been steadily increasing its focus on electrification, and the latest models to benefit from this are the 3008 and 5008 SUVs. The French automaker has announced the introduction of a new mild-hybrid powertrain, dubbed Hybrid 48V, which will be available in both models, and later on other models of the brand and the Stellantis group.
The mild-hybrid system is made up of a three-cylinder 1.2 Puretech (EB2 Gen3) turbocharged gasoline engine and one electric motor integrated on the also new e-DCS6 gearbox, with a combined output of 164 horsepower (136hp from the 1.2 Puretech and 28hp of the electric motor). The hybrid powertrain also offers an electric-only mode, unfortunately, range has not been revealed but should be less than 2 km (1.25 miles).
Visually, the 3008 and 5008 models equipped with the new mild-hybrid technology look similar to the standard versions.
The new Peugeot mHEV system is a great addition to the 3008 and 5008 SUVs, offering a smooth and efficient driving experience, with the added benefit of reduced emissions. The new hybrid powertrain also retains the practicality and versatility of the standard models, the battery is under the drivers seat, making it a great choice for families or anyone who needs a capable and spacious SUV.
The 3008 and 5008 HYBRID 136 e-DCS6 will be launched on the French market in June 2023. Princing will be announced in the spring.
Later this year, this technology will be implemented in the Peugeot 308, 408, 208 and in 2024 it will reach the renewed 2008. Other models of the Stellantis group, in particular Opel and Citroën, will also benefit from this technology and meet the EURO7 goals.
