Electric Ford Fiesta with eWheelDrive technology [Video]

Ford, together with Schaeffler, is developing a new type of electric vehicle that uses independent electric motors mounted in each of the rear wheels, meaning there is more room, specially under the hood, since the space that was used for the engine and transmission is now available for other uses.

Other electric vehicles also had that space occupied with a large electric motor, but with this technology cars can now be smaller and better adapted for urban areas. Power and torques figures aren't different from other electric vehicles that use a more traditional electric powertrain.
