Official: Here's the 2014 Peugeot 308! [Updated]

Supposedly, the new Peugeot 308 should only be presented tomorrow, but as is usual in such cases, here are the first images of the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf rival. The design is interesting and the exterior distances itself enough from the other models of the brand, but the interior is similar to the 208, with the small steering wheel and the instrument panel placed in a higher position.

Nothing else is known for now, but i will keep you updated as more information is revealed, along with photos of the rear of the car.

[Update]: More information about this French car just arrived. It is 140kg (309lbs) lighter than the previous model thanks to the new EMP2 platform.

The new 308 is 4250mm (167.32 inches) long. 1460mm (57.48 inches) high, and has a boot with room for 470 liters.

The main feature inside the new Peugeot is the placement of a 9.7" touch screen that controls almost everything in the car (Bluetooth, Hi-Fi, Navigation, and so on), creating a dashboard with very few buttons.

The engines used will start with the 1.2 VTi and 1.6 THP up to the 1.4 and 1.6 e-HDi. Power will range from 82PS to 200PS, while CO2 emissions begin at just 85g/km. For now it's confirmed the new 208 will have an improved 6-speed gearbox.

Production starts during autumn 2013 in Europe, and the car will be seen in public for the first time at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, which starts on September 10.
