Seems that Audi had one last surprise for us before the start of the Frankfurt Motor Show. But it is a little disappointing, since the overall shape of this concept looks a lot like the Italdesign Giugiaro Parcour Concept revealed at the beginning of the year, and don't forget that Italdesign was bought by Volkswagen.
And Audi designers did have a helping hand from the designers at Italdesign Giugiaro. This mid-engine crossover is capable of racing on road and off road. It is fitted with a turbocharged diesel V10 that generates 544PS (400kw or 536bhp) and 1000Nm (738lb/ft) of torque.
Those are some nice figures, the problem is that this concept weighs 1,900 kilograms (4,189lbs), meaning it takes around 3.8 seconds to reach 100km/h (62mph) and the top speed 305km/h (190mph). An innovative thermal management with its separate cooling loops and the steplessly regulated oil pump helps the car achieve an average fuel consumption of 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers (30.16 USA mpg or 36.21 UK mpg).
This concept comes with 22-inch wheels, carbon-fiber-ceramic brake discs, and adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled dampers that you can adjust manually. Another innovation of this concept is the integral steering. This system turns the rear wheels 9 degrees in the opposite direction of the front wheels at low speeds and up to 2.5 degrees in the same direction as the front wheels when driving at higher speeds.
The Audi Nanuk quattro concept has a wheelbase of 2,710mm (106.69 in). It's 4,541mm (178.78 inches) long, 1,990mm (78.35 inches) wide and 1,337mm (52.64 inches) tall. The structure is made from the aluminum Audi Space Frame with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) body panels painted in Extreme Red.
Audi didn't show the interior, but says it is very simple. It has a carbon-fiber and aluminum dashboard and center console, the instrument panel consists of a screen that be programmed to show what the drivers wants. This concept also has two small screens in the area of the A-pillars that serve as digital rear view mirrors.
